REPORT IN ENGLISH
Situated:
431 Km. west of Buenos Aires and
10 km. of
the paved road and the town of Berutti, excellent access
by well
kept dust candy road. In the county of Trenque Lauquen,
and 30
Km. before getting to the town of T. Lauquen.
Aptitude:
There are 300 hectares all in one
sector
for agriculture, which is rotated with Soya beans, corn,
wheat
and barley. They generally direct drill 2nd
Soya onto
the stubble of the wheat and barley stubbles. This year
2010,
they did 300 hectares of barley, and direct drilled all
the
barley with 2nd Soya. So Harvested the barley
at the
beginning of December 2009, and then direct drilled Soya
bean on
top, and harvested at the end of April 26 mt. tons
of Soya
Beans per hectare. And in this way got two harvest per
hectare
in on year. This is common practice in this zone. The
rest is
lower land with 110 hectares of agropirum pasture for
cows,
which keeps on descending till the end of the farm in 40
hectares of permanent lake which is part of a larger
lake of
clear sweet water full of silver fish which have lovely
white
meat for eating. The lake is also full of wild birds,
especially
flocks of flamingos, spoon bills and millions of duck o
several
varieties, being the most common Pin Tails. The duck
take off
early in the morning to feed on the nearby winter and
summer
feed the farms over on their crop stubbles, and come
back to the
lake in the evening, when they make good shooting. One
is
allowed to shoot the duck all year round, as they are
considered
a bit of a plague for the cropping seasons. The lake is
also apt
for all water sports, which makes a private reservoir,
as in has
no direct access, and nobody is allowed to go through
private
property, other that guests who are invited to the
surrounding
farms. The part of the lake in the title deeds belonging
to the
farm oscillates from 30 to 40 hectares according to the
yearly
rainfall. Years before all the 150 hectares of lower
land used
to get flooded in rainy years, until the provincial
Government
made a draining system of canals, one of which border
this farm
leaving a border of 5 m. high against the side with the
earth
taken out for the canal, and since then, no matter how
much it
rains the water does not get in and flood the 110 has
which has
been recovered, now good for cattle pastures.
Improvements:
7 paddocks with new fences, all
supplied
by drinking water by 3 new windmills, each with their
australian
tanks.
New cattle yards, with a loading
ramp on
the road at the entrance to the farm and homestead.
Homestead:
New working homestead with
foreman’s
house, a large barn, surrounded by lovely large
eucalyptus
trees.
Observations:
1:
The photos where taken in August
2005,
when the owner had just inherited the camp, and begun to
do the
improvements, they are no completed and very well
obtained
through shear stuborness, as at the time the owner had
not much
experience. For example he sowed the agropirum pastures
with
white clover, buty to deep and nothing came up. So he
sowed
again in 2006, and no luck, eventually he got his hand
and in
2007, it came up fine, after sowing the same pasture 3
years
running.
